AMON! The Ultimate Texan Made Its Dallas Debut — at last — and now comes home.

NEW! Amon Carter returns to Tarrant County for “The Birdville Tour” in North Richland Hills,.

For more than half a century, one fact of North Texas life was widely understood:

Amon G. Carter Sr. belonged firmly on the Fort Worth side of the Trinity River. Put another way, he was not especially fond of Dallas. Which makes the following announcement all the more remarkable:

The award-winning one-man playAMON! The Ultimate Texan made its long-awaited Dallas debut with three performances at the Winspear Opera House—bringing the larger-than-life Texan directly into rival territory.

Written by award-winning journalist Dave Lieber, directed by veteran theater leader Connie Sanchez, and starring acclaimed actor Kelvin Dilks, the production has been performed 74 times in a dozen cities, delighting audiences with the wit, stories, and outsized personality of one of Texas’ most colorful figures.

‍‍Publisher, aviation champion, and a trailblazer in radio and television journalism, Carter devoted a lifetime to promoting Fort Worth -- sometimes enthusiastically, sometimes loudly, and occasionally at Dallas’s expense.
